〜か（疑問）

Adding か to the end of a polite sentence turns it into a question; the word order does not change. In writing, a period (。) is normally used rather than a question mark, and in speech the intonation rises slightly. か is not usually attached to the plain form in casual conversation — friends just raise their intonation (行く？) — so keep か for です／ます speech.

• あなたは学生ですか。

  あなたはがくせいですか。

  Are you a student?

• 明日、何時に来ますか。

  あした、なんじにきますか。

  What time will you come tomorrow?

• すみません、この電車は東京へ行きますか。

  すみません、このでんしゃはとうきょうへいきますか。

  Excuse me, does this train go to Tokyo?
