〜というものではない

Used to reject a general assumption as too simple: it's not always true that doing X gives the good result. It typically follows a conditional such as 〜ば・〜たら・〜なら in the first half (例:安ければいいというものではない). 〜というものでもない is a softer, more indirect version; the tone is that of offering a reasoned opinion, common in essays and discussion.

• 安ければいいというものではない。

  やすければいいというものではない。

  It's not as if cheap is automatically good.

• 努力すれば必ず成功するというものでもない。

  どりょくすればかならずせいこうするというものでもない。

  It isn't necessarily true that effort always leads to success.

• 謝ればそれで済むというものではありません。

  あやまればそれですむというものではありません。

  Apologizing doesn't simply make everything all right.
