〜めく

Attaches to a noun to say that something has taken on the feel or appearance of that thing: 春めく (feel like spring), 謎めく (be mysterious), 皮肉めく (sound sarcastic). It is a fixed, limited set of expressions and is usually seen as 〜めいた before a noun or 〜めいて(きた). The register is literary or written; you cannot freely attach it to any noun.

• 四月になって、ようやく春めいてきた。

  しがつになって、ようやくはるめいてきた。

  Now that it's April, it has finally begun to feel like spring.

• 彼女は謎めいた微笑みを浮かべた。

  かのじょはなぞめいたほほえみをうかべた。

  She wore a mysterious smile.

• 彼の言い方はどこか皮肉めいていた。

  かれのいいかたはどこかひにくめいていた。

  There was something sarcastic about the way he spoke.
