〜ぶり／〜っぷり

Makes a noun meaning 'the manner or state in which someone does something': 話しぶり, 仕事ぶり, 暮らしぶり, 生活ぶり. The variant 〜っぷり is more colloquial and emphatic, and is common in fixed combinations such as 飲みっぷり, 食べっぷり, 男っぷり. Do not confuse this with the time usage of ぶり (三年ぶりに = for the first time in three years), which counts an interval instead.

• 彼の仕事ぶりは上司に高く評価されている。

  かれのしごとぶりはじょうしにたかくひょうかされている。

• 話しぶりから、彼女が緊張しているのが分かった。
