〜ながらに（して）

An old-fashioned, literary 〜ながら meaning 'in that state, without change'. It appears mostly in fixed expressions: 生まれながらに（して）, 涙ながらに, 居ながらにして, 昔ながらの. Note that 昔ながらの modifies a noun, while 涙ながらに modifies a verb of speaking. Do not confuse it with the ordinary 〜ながら of simultaneous actions (食べながら話す), which is neutral everyday language.

• 彼女は涙ながらに事故のことを話した。

  かのじょはなみだながらにじこのことをはなした。

  She spoke about the accident in tears.

• 人間は生まれながらにして平等だと言われている。

  にんげんはうまれながらにしてびょうどうだといわれている。

  It is said that human beings are equal from birth.

• インターネットのおかげで、家に居ながらにして買い物ができる。

  インターネットのおかげで、いえにいながらにしてかいものができる。
