〜へ

へ marks the direction of movement and is used with verbs like 行く, 来る, 帰る. It is pronounced "e", not "he". With movement verbs it is often interchangeable with に, but へ stresses the direction while に stresses the arrival point; before の (東京への手紙) only へ is possible.

• 来週、北海道へ行きます。

  らいしゅう、ほっかいどうへいきます。

  I'm going to Hokkaido next week.

• 六時に家へ帰りました。

  ろくじにいえへかえりました。

  I went home at six o'clock.

• 国の友だちへ手紙を書きます。

  くにのともだちへてがみをかきます。

  I'm writing a letter to a friend back home.
