〜なら

Takes up what the other person has just said or a known situation and gives advice, an opinion or an offer based on it. Unlike 〜たら, the B action can come before A in time (日本へ行くなら、この本を読んだ方がいい — read before going). It is also used to pick out a topic: 電気製品なら、あの店が安いですよ.

• 日本へ行くなら、京都がいいですよ。

  にほんへいくなら、きょうとがいいですよ。

  If you're going to Japan, Kyoto is a good choice.

• 忙しいなら、手伝いましょうか。

  いそがしいなら、てつだいましょうか。

  If you're busy, shall I help you?

• パソコンなら、駅前の店が安いと思います。

  パソコンなら、えきまえのみせがやすいとおもいます。

  If it's a computer you want, the shop by the station is cheap, I think.
