〜ので

Gives a reason presented as an objective, natural cause, so it sounds softer and more polite than 〜から. It is preferred when explaining yourself to a superior, making excuses or asking permission. Commands and strong invitations are more at home with 〜から; also remember な after な-adjectives and nouns (静かなので、便利なので).

• 熱があるので、今日は休みます。

  ねつがあるので、きょうはやすみます。

  I have a fever, so I'll take today off.

• この部屋は静かなので、よく眠れます。

  このへやはしずかなので、よくねむれます。

  This room is quiet, so I can sleep well.

• 電車が遅れたので、遅刻してしまいました。すみません。

  でんしゃがおくれたので、ちこくしてしまいました。すみません。

  The train was delayed, so I ended up being late. I'm sorry.
