お〜する／ご〜する

This is the standard humble (謙譲語) pattern used when the speaker's own action affects or is directed at a superior, customer, or guest. Wago verbs take お (お持ちする, お送りする), while Sino-Japanese nouns take ご (ご案内する, ご説明する). Use お〜いたす for an even politer tone; never use this form for someone else's action toward you — that would be お〜になる (respectful). One-mora verbs like 見る, 寝る do not fit this pattern.

• お荷物をお持ちします。

  おにもつをおもちします。

  I'll carry your luggage for you.

• あとでメールでご連絡します。

  あとでめーるでごれんらくします。

  I'll contact you by email later.

• 会議室まで、私がご案内します。

  かいぎしつまで、わたしがごあんないします。

  I'll show you to the meeting room.
