〜わけがない

A strong denial: the speaker is convinced that something cannot possibly be true, based on reason or common sense. It is much stronger than 〜ないだろう or 〜はずがない in feeling, and often sounds emotional or blunt, so avoid it toward superiors. The casual spoken form is 〜わけない.

• こんな難しい問題、私に分かるわけがない。

  こんなむずかしいもんだい、わたしにわかるわけがない。

  There's no way I can understand a problem this difficult.

• 毎日練習していないのに、上手になるわけがないよ。

  まいにちれんしゅうしていないのに、じょうずになるわけがないよ。

  You don't practice every day, so of course you're not going to get good.

• あの真面目な彼が嘘をつくわけがないでしょう。

  あのまじめなかれがうそをつくわけがないでしょう。

  A serious person like him would never lie.
