〜にかけては

Singles out a field in which someone excels, and is followed by praise: 誰にも負けない, 一番だ, 自信がある. The noun must be an area of skill or ability, and the comment is positive — it is unnatural to follow it with a negative evaluation. Compare 〜について, which merely introduces a topic with no sense of superiority.

• 料理の腕にかけては、母に勝てない。

  りょうりのうでにかけては、ははにかてない。

  When it comes to cooking skill, I can't beat my mother.

  えいぎょうせいせきにかけては、かれはしゃないでだれにもまけない。
