〜につれて

Used when two things change gradually and in parallel: as A advances, B changes along with it. Both sides must express change over time (増える, 進む, 成長, 時間 etc.), so it does not work with one-time events. 〜につれ is the slightly more formal, written form; the nuance is neutral and objective, common in reports and explanations.

• 年を取るにつれて、記憶力が落ちてきた。

  としをとるにつれて、きおくりょくがおちてきた。

  As I get older, my memory has been getting worse.

• 時間がたつにつれて、彼女の怒りも収まっていった。

  じかんがたつにつれて、かのじょのいかりもおさまっていった。

  As time passed, her anger gradually subsided.

• 経済の発展につれ、人々の価値観も変化している。

  けいざいのはってんにつれ、ひとびとのかちかんもへんかしている。

  With the development of the economy, people's values are changing too.
