〜から見ると／〜からすると

Marks the viewpoint or the evidence from which a judgement is made, and the sentence usually ends in a guess: 〜だろう, 〜らしい, 〜はずだ, 〜に違いない. With a person or group it means 'from their point of view' (親から見れば); with facts or data it means 'judging from' (この様子からすると). Note that it is not normally used to state the speaker's own obligation or request, and unlike 〜にとって it leads to an inference rather than an evaluation.

• この空の様子から見ると、午後は雨になりそうだ。

  このそらのようすからみると、ごごはあめになりそうだ。

  Judging from the look of the sky, it will probably rain this afternoon.

• 外国人からすると、日本の習慣は不思議に見えるらしい。

  がいこくじんからすると、にほんのしゅうかんはふしぎにみえるらしい。

  From a foreigner's point of view, Japanese customs apparently seem strange.

• 成績から見れば、彼が合格するのは間違いないだろう。

  せいせきからみれば、かれがごうかくするのはまちがいないだろう。

  Judging from his grades, there is no doubt he will pass.
