〜にかかわらず／〜を問わず

Both say that the following result or rule is not affected by the difference or condition mentioned. They attach to nouns expressing a range or two contrasting options (年齢, 性別, 経験の有無, 晴雨, 参加するかしないか). 〜を問わず is slightly more formal and appears often in advertisements, notices and job postings; 〜にかかわらず can also follow 〜かどうか and affirmative/negative verb pairs. Do not confuse it with 〜にもかかわらず, which means 'although/despite' and needs a fact, not a range.

• このゲームは年齢を問わず楽しめます。

  このげーむは ねんれいを とわず たのしめます。

  This game can be enjoyed regardless of age.

• 天気にかかわらず、試合は行われる予定です。

  てんきに かかわらず、しあいは おこなわれる よていです。

  The match is scheduled to take place regardless of the weather.

• 経験の有無を問わず、やる気のある方を募集しています。

  けいけんの うむを とわず、やるきの ある かたを ぼしゅうして います。

  We are recruiting motivated people, with or without experience.
