〜からといって

Used to deny that a reasonable-sounding reason automatically leads to a certain conclusion, so the second clause is normally negative: 〜とは限らない, 〜わけではない, or a plain negative. It often carries a mild warning or correction of the listener's assumption. In casual speech it shortens to 〜からって; do not use it when you simply want to give a real reason (use 〜から).

• 安いからといって、買いすぎてはいけない。

  やすいからといって、かいすぎてはいけない。

  Just because it's cheap doesn't mean you should buy too much.

• 日本に住んでいるからといって、敬語が上手だとは限らない。

  にほんにすんでいるからといって、けいごがじょうずだとはかぎらない。

  Living in Japan doesn't necessarily mean you're good at honorific language.

• 一度失敗したからって、あきらめることはないよ。

  いちどしっぱいしたからって、あきらめることはないよ。

  Just because you failed once, there's no need to give up.
