〜から〜まで

から marks the starting point and まで the end point, for both time and place. Either half can be used alone (9時から働きます／駅まで歩きます). With time, まで means 'up until', so it shows a continuous period; for a deadline 'by', N5 learners later learn までに.

• 店は十時から八時までです。

  みせはじゅうじからはちじまでです。

  The shop is open from ten to eight.

• 月曜日から金曜日まで学校があります。

  げつようびからきんようびまでがっこうがあります。

  I have school from Monday to Friday.

• 家から駅まで自転車で十分かかります。

  いえからえきまでじてんしゃでじゅっぷんかかります。

  It takes ten minutes by bicycle from my house to the station.
