〜に即して／〜に即した

Used with nouns like 事実・現実・法律・規則・実状 to say that a judgement or action follows and conforms to that standard or reality. It is formal, typical of written documents, news and business speech. 〜に即した modifies a following noun (現実に即した対策). Compare 〜に沿って, which means 'along/following a line, plan or wish'; 〜に即して stresses conformity to facts or rules as they actually are.

  Please report in accordance with the facts.
