〜後で

Indicates that the main action takes place after the first action is finished. The verb before 後で must be in the た-form regardless of the tense of the whole sentence. It is close to 〜てから, but 後で simply orders the two events, while 〜てから stresses that the first must be completed first; 後で cannot be used for habitual chains of natural sequence as smoothly as てから.

• ご飯を食べた後で、薬を飲みます。

  ごはんをたべたあとで、くすりをのみます。

  I take my medicine after eating.

• 仕事の後で、一緒にお茶を飲みませんか。

  しごとのあとで、いっしょにおちゃをのみませんか。

  Shall we have tea together after work?

• 映画を見た後で、レストランで晩ご飯を食べました。

  えいがをみたあとで、レストランでばんごはんをたべました。

  After watching the movie, we had dinner at a restaurant.
